I never realized you were an academic writer! How long have you been doing it? You are so right, procrastination is probably the number one killer of dreams. The brain puts forth a million excuses as to why we shouldn't start something. Once you learn to silence that voice a new phase of life begins. Lol, baking sourdough IS a perfect metaphor for succeeding in life (or not) in every way. This last time I baked (my fifth), I noticed I was less uptight about it and just enjoyed the process more. The result, my best loaf ever! Thank you and I hope you're enjoying your weekend!

I love to use sourdough baking and fermentation in general as metaphors for our own thinking in life. That is how I started this blog on the other platform in 2016/2017 I think. Time flies so quickly!
Yes, our brains never want to sit still and do what we want/need to do. I am an avid gardener and when I get myself I got up and about in the garden.
I am busy with my Ph.D. at the moment! And I publish on and off in some minor journals (at least try to). My work is in a very niche area so there are not a lot of places you can publish your work. But the hope is to end up in the academy. I am (if all happens as planned) giving my first series of lectures next year.
You are also a writer, poet? That is awesome. I have read some of your work and it is brilliant!
I used to love gardening too when we had a yard. We're hoping to sell the condo find a house again, I can't wait to garden now that I have the time for it.
Wonderful that you're working towards your Ph.D.! Best of luck with that. The resiliency that baking sourdough has taught you will serve you well in your pursuit!
Thank you! Yes, I've been writing for almost thirty years now. I thought a few months ago that I might be ready to start easing into retirement but I'm feeling the spark of renewed interest now. I'm actually sketching out the sequel to my novel Alarm Clock Dawn.
I really hope you find your way to a place where you can garden again. I really think it is good for the soul and inspires one to be creative.
And best of luck with the writing process. I have dabbled in the creative writing process, writing a couple of anthologies, and a novel manuscript but it is mostly for fun. I have some things published but I have more rejection slips though. I am much more of an academic writer. Even though I have many rejection slips there as well!
But having the time to write sounds like the perfect life, to be honest! Enjoy it for all of us who cannot have it (at this time).
Thank you! I think we'll be able to find a place with a yard, hopefully, next year. It's tough publishing the traditional way. I tried for years with very little success then began to build my own audience and self-publish. That worked far better for me.
Oh yes same here. I have too many rejection slips to care about the normal route. But I worked myself into a bit of a toxic relationship with myself and my writing. I wrote my best work whilst depressed. Now that I am out of it, the words seem to gravitate towards philosophy and not poetry. But we will see! Keep well. And happy baking!
