Just a week left for the great race that everyone has been seriously anticipating- THE FLYERS. Athlethes from different schools had already arrived at the stadium and each was preparing and working hard to ensure that this time the gold trophy would return to thier school. Saint Charles college had earned themselves a reputation of three consecutive wins for the past three years in the annual contest and they are bent on making the fourth to beat the record set by the Globes college six years ago.

With every eye set on the trophy, winning would mean a lot for the college and the team, especially the athlethe who would be o n a full sholarship for the rest of his stay in the college nd would earn the respect of all.
THe silver trophy was not really desired by any of the athlete because apart from the financial benefits to the school, other benefit were little and thier names would not enter the hallowed HALL OF FAME
The center of attraction was Osumanu, a 5 feet slender young man from Saint Charles college with the reputation of his speed and balance as he cornered the bends. His expertise was remarkable and with him as thier point man, Saint Charlses college confident the gold trophy would return to them. Although Osumanu knew he would take the lead, he however , had rivals that had the capacity to take on him if ccareless. These two rivals were Itodo from Smit commerial college and Julian from Mautech school of accountancy. These three were confident there as no one amongs the rest that could take them on.
However, with just three days to go and multitudes already thronging the environs of the stadium, Osumanu believed in himself that nothing will deter him from taking the lead; hence he did not see the need to prepare further.
He spent his time sleeping and playing games with his friends , celebrating his victory before time , Itodo on the other hand went on partying with his friends also celebrating his victory before time Julian had failed to watch his diet, he ate as much as possible and became less fit.
a last , the D-day came. The stadium was filled beyond ccapacity and the athletes stepped out in different colours, brightly looking. Osumanu was specially hailed by the crowd as well as Itodo and Julian but some of the athletes were not known and little or no cheers were agiven them. All them lined up at the starting line and took off with a flash at the sound of the whistle.

As you would expect, Osumanu, Itodo and Julian took the lead. they started with such great accelerations and were ahead of the rest. then suddenly , to the surprise of every watching eyes and to his own disdain, Julian went down as he had developed abdominal cramp due to his loose dietary habit. He was out.
Flabergasted by he fall of Julian, Osumanu and Itodo continued in the race, partly rejoicing that apotential threats was out of the way. and partly feeling sorry for his misfortune . Osmo! Osmo! the crowd began to scream as both athletes were on a deadlock on lanes two and three respectively and that was were every attention was fastened. Other athletes seemed insignificant beause thy were thought no math for these two ferocious cheetahs who were now making thier way towards the finishing line in real time.
It seemed just like a flash of a second, the race was over. Neither of the two hampions culd celebrate due to the seeming tie. Every eye was fastened on the electronic screen as they awaited the result to be displayed by the ingenious race robot newly installed on the track to void disputes from human errors.
The electrifying suspense was interrupted by a shocking release. Martins was the winne of the race. everyone was stupefied.
Who is Martins? Martins from the Modibbo Adama niversity of technology (MAUTECH) was on lane 7 and did not get as much as a spectator to concentrate on him. he had trained hard, watched his diet and avoided every frivolity to ensure that he was in the best shape for the race.
LESSONS;
Life is a race and we are all in it. To successfully run the race, and win the crown, there are requirments that must be fulfilled. Being disciplined, temperate, having self-control, or what we can call power o focus are necessary to earn victory in life.
Give not thy strenght unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not or kings to drink wine; nor for prines stong drink" Proverb 31:4,5.
