Difficulties serves the same purpose fire does to bring out the best qualities of a metal like gold.
Sadly, difficulties have destroyed more people than it has refined them..the reason being their view of the true purpose of difficulties.
When you see it more like a mountain too difficulty to climb it will overwhelm you but when you see it as just another stepping stone towards achieving your goal...
It becomes quite easier to handle and by then you end up more refined, stronger,wiser and smarter.
