My Journey for a solution to ending dead-end days led me to a popular reddit post from five years ago. Reddit user ryans01 laid out FOUR simple steps he used to build a constructive lifestyle.. This post will focus on Steps Three and Four. I've outlined Steps One and Two for you here.
3) Forgive Yourself!
In my opinion, this stems from Rule #2, which is based in self love. Forgiveness is one of the strongest displays of love one can show. Often times we have the ability to do great things, we just don't. I know there are plenty of days when I planned to get my life back on track, only to reach the end having done absolutely zilch.. (another Zero Day).
The worst thing you can do for productivity is beat yourself up over it.. You have to love the Present You too. Realize that you are trying, and that's what counts. We can't always be our best.. say it out loud to yourself "I Forgive You", and move on.
"Heads up champion, being dissapointed in yourself causes you to be less productive."
4) Exercise and Books!
Ryan claims that this rule is the easiest! He also admits that it's 'a sneaky way of saying self improvement, physical[ly], emotional[ly] and mental[ly].' The idea is you have to work for it. Constant improvement, whether from body building or mind workouts, is a fast track way to get you to the next level! Physical exercise not only makes you stronger, it makes you smarter and happier. It clears your minds and releases endorphines.
As for reading, everything we have thought about or wanted to know has been figured out by someone else. Books give us access to that information. When you spend time reading, you aren't only consuming knowledge, you are absorbing it, it becomes part of you. Reading and exercise are two things you can consistently do to give a HUGE favor to the Future You!
"[It] is the fucking warp whistle from Super Mario 3. It gets you to the next level that much faster."

So there you have it! Ryan says this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to making your life insanely productive, but it's best to focus on these simple steps first. Keep them in mind and breathe them daily. Carry them with you when you wake up, go to work and unwind at night:
1.) Non-zero days as a system default
2.) 3 YOUS: gratitude and favors
3.)Forgiveness
4.) Exercise & Books!
Writing it down if you have to. Place it on a post-it and stick it at your workplace. After you make this your routine, you can focus on actively thinking and working towards your big goals in life.. for now.. take it step-by-step and don't forget to forgive yourself if you slip up!
