Shame that you were in such a hurry. Not really a place to be in such a hurry really...Well obviously for the lack of camping gear and stuff, but it so spectacular to be in such a special place you know. I could stayed there for weeks...
Almost moved into an old cabin up on the back of Ajax but just missed out...
So if you're camping near Indy Pass, then your either near of have been to Indy (ghost) town then?
Yep I've been through there! I'm actually a bit closer to Leadville at the moment, but it's all gorgeous territory.
I'm not always in such a hurry… just when I'm trying to connect a bunch of mountains :)
Wow, cool that's so funny cause one day when my ex and I were driving down valley from Aspen, we decided to go up to Ruedi Resevoir to have a bbq for dinner.
But then we just kept going and a couple of nights later ended up in Leadville, then Edwards, Vale, Loveland, Estes park And all the way through to Custer County, Rapid City, down through Alliance to Williams, Las Vegas then eventually arrived home to El Jebel about 3 months later...🤣
Driving through from Reudi Res through to Leadville was just such an extraordinary experience. We saw so many amazing things on the way...I'd absolutely LOVE to go back and stay there again for much longer too!

I lived in Leadville for almost 5 years. It's a cool town, but it is getting way too crowded for my liking.
I think everywhere is far too crowded these days...especially the US...And I live right in the centre of Melbourne...lol..

Do you know Statebridge, near Edwards/Avon?
Never been to Australia before, but I've heard about the mountains there. Thornton Peak looks like a fun hike. 10 meters of rainfall a year, that is nuts.
I've heard of Statebridge, but never been there. I generally stay away from Edwards/Avon and all of Vail valley, it's not really my style over there.
Yeah so many great mountains/etc to hike over here- you would love it.
I only visited Edwards/Avon a few times cause I made some friends there and it was them that introduced me to this fantastic little .....venue...called Statebridge and when I went there a couple of times, there was nothing there but the venue and a handful of Tee Pees up the top. And then the hot spring on the rivers edge.
Sounds magical. I am guessing it's overrun with tourists these days…
