This movie was on my radar for quite some time. But thanks to trailer not giving any hint storywise ı always thought it was another run of the mill romantic movie. But after another recommandation ı sat down and watched. Now ı want to live in 1920's Paris...

We follow Gil (portraid by Owen Wilson) and Inez (Portraid by Rachel McAdams) in their last get away in Paris before they get married. Quickly we find out while Gil is a true intellectuel, lover of all kinds of art and a successful screen writer trying to write a book his soon to be wife Inez is more of a pseudo intellectuel and little shallow. Because of these reasons Gil is feeling out of place in their relationship and having second thoughts about the marrige. So for a distraction and feel the city he goes for walk at midnight in a slightly drunken state. After a while on his walk an old Ford stops in front of Gil and the people inside invites him for a party. Gil hesitant at first declines but eventualy agrees and finds himself in a roaring 20's themed party. But he realises soon this is no themed party, he actualy went back in time with the car.

İn 1920's Paris we meet many famous intellectuels and get life lessons through Gil's interaction with them. We meet with Fitzgeralds (Portraid wonderfuly by Alison Pill and Tom Hiddleston), Ernest Hemingway (portaid magneficently by Corey Stoll), Picasso, Salvador Dali (Portraid crazly by Adrien Brody) and many others ı dont want to spoil.

There was a couple scene ı would like to mention separately to give them to praise they deserve. First of all the opening scene where we watch paris with smooth jazz in the back. Simply mesmerising. So good you dont realize it's almost a full song.

Man Ray: A man in love with a woman from a different era. I see a photograph!
Luis Bunuel: I see a film!
Gil: I see insurmountable problem!
Salvador Dalí: I see rhinoceros!

Also any scene we see Hemingway was perfect. Corey Stoll definitely steals tthe spotlight with his acting. I literaly want to go back in time to have conversations with Hemingway thanks to those scenes.

Oh ı almost forget to say this movie directed by Woody Allen who also gets the solo writing credits. So it is no big suprise movie comes out as a masterpiece.
