Nina as Zoe Saldana

In the beginning of the movie, a girl is shown on a piano in front of an audience, she is supposed to play the piano but refuses, she says she would only play when her parents come out from backstage and sit up front to watch her.

Nina's life is that of a strong black woman with vices(drinking, smoking etc), she grows to be a very famous black pianist and a soul-piercing singer. the songs she sang were hinged on freedom of the black race, the traumas of slavery, love and soul.

Nina Simone before getting famous applied to a school to learn how to perfect her piano skills and also join the singers there but was denied entrance because she was black and they did not want a black person to play the piano but only sing and because of this Nina went to New York with the intention of making money by playing and singing, just so that she can reapply for the school but in the process she became famous.

Nina and Clifton

But at a point, she was misbehaving and was put in a recovery hospital where she met Clifton stared by David Oyelowo, she takes preference to him and asks him to follow her back to France as her assistance and that was how Nina Simone's 2nd story began with a good friend , Clifton, she was going through a lot and in the process, she did so many things to Clifton but he stayed by her to the end.

The movie "Nina" portrays black women, their capabilities, their excesses, their beauty, the love they radiate, the fact that they are able to hide those black scars, the pain, betrayal and fear behind their skin, all that cover up, their independent , strong and very annoying, they get angry when taken for granted, they fear when love because their scared it would go away, because most of the men just use their vulnerability and lie.

Nina is a figure that gives us, the black women and people the opportunity to know , we can handle anything, not just because we are black but because there's a story and strength in that blackness.

Besides the good stuff, Nina was very annoying, at some point, it was annoying that Clifton never yelled or shouted at her, but that would also feel that people should learn to listen and be patient with women, they carry a lot of burden.

It's a great movie and i would subscribe that anyone who has not seen it should try to, it gave me some level of inspiration when i needed it, who knows, it could give you same.

EVERYONE, I PRESENT TO YOU "NINA"
