2018 has seen a number of films re-scheduling their release dates to avoid clashing at the box-office. After 'Padmaavat', 'PadMan' and 'Aiyaary', another film to push its release is John Abraham's production venture 'Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran'. Based on the second nuclear tests carried out in Pokhran in 1998, the film was originally scheduled for a release on December 8, 2017.
However, as D-day neared, the release was pushed by two months to February 23 and then again by a week to March 2. The real-life story will now unveil only on April 6. When John was asked about the constant shuffling of the dates, he reportedly stated that he refuses to "compromise" on anything, be it the action, the visual effects or the sound design.
He allegedly added that the film is "really strong in content" and doesn’t mind moving dates as long as his film is "good" and a Friday collection speaks. The film is directed by Abhishek Sharma and also features Diana Penty and Boman Irani.

The Abhishek Sharma directed film which has been co-produced by John himself not only lost out on the December date but has now again been postponed due to the upcoming inevitable clash. ‘Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’ stars Diana Penty as the leading lady opposite John.
John Abraham is back with ‘Parmanu’ after more than a year since his last release ‘Dishoom’. The actor will be paired opposite Diana Penty and the film is based on the nuclear test conducted at Pokhran in 1998. In the two new posters unveiled today, Diana and John could be seen in army fatigues, surrounded by dense sand.
John is also producing the film under his home productions JA Entertainment together with Zee Studios, KriArj Entertainment, and Kyta Productions. ‘Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’ is slated to release on December 8, 2017.

Avoiding a clash with Anushka Sharma’s horror film, Pari, the release date of John Abraham-starrer Parmanu- The Story of Pokhran has been shifted from March 2 to April 6. Pari will hit theatres on March 2.
This is the fourth time that the release date for Parmanu has been shifted. Initially slated to hit theatres on December 15, the release date was changed to February 9 when Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat was scheduled to hit screens on December 1. After Padmaavat got January 25 as a new release date, Parmanu was again shifted to March 2 when Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary and Akshay Kumar’s Padman postponed their releases to February 9.
Directed by Abhishek Sharma, Parmanu stars Diana Penty and Boman Irani along with John. The story of Parmanu is based on the nuclear tests conducted at Pokhran in May 1998. It was India’s second nuclear test; the first one was conducted in 1974. Talking about the subject of Parmanu, John had said earlier: “Nuclear power is never always used for negative purposes and that’s what we have shown in our film. There was a no first use policy and it’s quite and intriguing subject and interesting film, and we are very proud to be a part of it.”
While the premise of the film is based on true events, the characters are fictitious.
Pari is Anushka’s third venture as a producer and also stars Parambrata Chatterjee, Rajat Kapoor and Ritabhari Chakraborty. Directed by Prosit Roy, Pari is slated to be released on March 2.

The John Abraham starrer was initially expected to hit the theatres on 8 December last year but the makers had to defer the date because Padmaavat was scheduled to release on 1 December back then. Then, it was decided the movie will open in cinemas on 23 February and clash with Rani Mukherji’s Hichki. However, they discovered that Sonakshi Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh starrer Boom Boom In New York would release on the same date too.
The same report states that a three-way clash will affect the movie’s business. Additionally, KriArj has just announced that Pari will release on 2 March so it is unwise of them to have two films releasing consecutively. Ideally, a fortnight’s gap must be there between their films.
However, the same report claims Abraham, who is also co-producing the film, is not happy with the repeated changing in the release date.

Apparently, John had little choice, a person close to the production said. "Anushka Sharma's scare-fest in Pari is already grabbing a whole lot of attention. The latest promo has sent chills down the nations's spine. Whereas John's promotion for Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran has not even started.
Rather than rush into release, better sense prevailed. After a spate of flops, Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran is crucial for John. The film has to work as he has signed only one film (to be directed by Milap Jhaveri) after Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran. John wants to take no risks. It has to work," he added.
It looks like the film releasw schedule for this month and beyond is going through a major reshuffle mostly in order to avoid clashes. While Akshay Kumar made a witty move by pushing the release date of Padman to 9 February and leaving 25 January as the solo release day for Padmaavat, Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran has also been pushed a couple of weeks ahead.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and announced the new release date of Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran.
On the other hand, Dharma Productions' Drive, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jaqueline Fernandez, has been postponed for the time being, citing incomplete VFX work.
Now Parmanu will clash with Anushka Sharma's Pari during the Holi weekend. In their attempt to avoid clashes, the makers of Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran have deferred the release for the third time now. In the very beginning, Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran was scheduled to release on 8 December. Later, it was pushed to 23 February in order to avoid a clash with Padmaavat that was originally slated to release on 1 December.
In spite of KriArj Entertainment's repeated attempts, Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran will clash with yet another of their co-producions, Pari.
