Go Woke Go Broke
Well is seems them chickens have finally come home to roost, and what I mean by chickens, is all the social justice ideology that Lucas Film prioritized over telling a good story. If you're not all that familiar with what I'm eluding to, then let me give you a quick update about what I'm referring to.
This started when George Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney, but just before he appointed Kathleen Kennedy as head of Lucas Film with the hopes that someone trust worthy was looking over his life's work. But oh, how wrong he was, as with all power, it tends to corrupt. Right off the bat Kennedy came out very strong in an attempt to make a name for herself with her political ideology, hiring predominately female writers, coming out up with slogans like "The Force Is Female". Basically she was fighting inequality with inequality which works as well as fighting racism with racism, it doesn't, but it's somehow okay when they do it. Kennedy then proceeded to make the Star Wars sequel trilogy with this political ideology as the core fundamentals, unfortunately she didn't care much about the story.

The first film "The Force Awakens" did pretty well and fans loved it for the most part, but this gave Kennedy a false sense of accomplishment. She thought that the biggest movie franchise in history would just eat up any old crap they served up, and that when we got "The Last Jedi" which was an abomination. The end result was a testament of just how much respect Kennedy had for the creator and the story, absolutely nothing, this split the fan base. What followed was millions lost as fans no longer wanted to anything to do with Star Wars, not just with the films, but toy sales, merchandise including the brand new theme park, people had had enough. That when the investors stepped in, the CEO of Disney took hands on approach to the final film that was in production, which we now find out were still doing re-shoots just weeks before it was released, because it was just so bad.
There was a glimmer of hope, which came in the form of Kevin Feige, who was at the helm of the success behind the Marvel film franchise. He apparently approached Disney CEO Bob Iger with a plan to get Star Wars back on track, which began with a test product created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian. The series did beyond great, that was because Favreau had Dave Filoni the creator of Star Wars the Clone Wars help him create the series as well as the man himself George Lucas. Something Kathleen Kennedy did not do, she didn't bother getting any advise regarding the story for the 3 films she made from Lucas, the creator of the entire Star Wars universe.
So now investors has put their foot down, and it looks like they only way froward would be to completely delete the entire abomination the is the sequel trilogy created by Kennedy. This is very much in line with what happened at Warner Bros with the DC franchise, where the holding company AT&T has forced them to release the anticipated Snyder Cut after fans asked to do so. Which is the approach that these companies should be taking, make movies for the fans, the paying customers. I really hope companies realize that pandering to the vocal woke minority will always end badly.
