Don't fit in?

I did quite like this and will watch the other two parts soon. If you think this is only a film for teenagers then you will be missing out on a very good film. It is also a reflection on society, and the film is fun with a fair amount of action incorporated. There are comparisons between this and hunger games in a lot of areas, both are very much worthwhile seeing. If you have seen Hunger games but haven't seen this one yet, you should.

Similar to the Hunger games this film is also set in a dystopia, here however, there are only five factions. Each faction is geared towards a particular trait. Teenagers typically undergo a mental assessment before having to decide which faction to join, most join the faction based on their own strengths. Once the decision has been made it cannot be unmade, it is for life.

Our hero Tris undergoes the mental assessment, however the examination does go as expected. She is told not to tell anyone about what happened in her examination. Her results were inconclusive, she decides to join the police/military faction. This is not the group her parents are in, nor the group her brother joined only moments before.

Being a police/military group, they don't accept anyone into their ranks, now she has to compete with other hopefuls for limited spots or become faction-less if she is kicked out. The physical training is one aspect, it is during the mental training that her uniqueness comes out again. She is a threat to the establishment, she is divergent. Can she get through the training, keep her secret and uncover a deeper darker plan being put in place?
