Not quite what I was expecting.
Similar to Mad Max but without the cars. It is a post apocalyptic story where Eli is traveling (walking) across the country to deliver his book. Unlike a lot of people he still lives by morals and rules. This leads to a lot of action scenes and interesting locations as well as a lot of slow motion. Densel Washington was a good pick for the role, he brings an intensity to the role.
This was set in a post apocalyptic world, where we have what appears to be someone drifting across America. His only valuable possession is a book that he reads every night. Eli survives by hunting small animals and trading, at one village he declines the advances of a local girl after impressing the boss with his fighting skills.
The girl sees Eli reading the book and is forced to tell the boss, Carnegie. Carnegie senses that this is the book he has been looking for and wants it at any cost. Eli will not give up the book for any price, this leaves only one possible outcome, war between the two.
Sounds like a great movie I hope to watch it some day.
