Actor in a supporting role, Oscar 2020. My favorite

While it is true that the most coveted statuettes of the Hollywood Academy Award are the Best Picture, Directing, Actor in a leading role and Actress in a leading role, at the 92nd awards, next February 9, the eyes will be attentive to the nominees as Actor in a supporting role.

All these actors have great cinematographic trajectory; everyone has won this award at some point in their artistic lives; they all have a wide filmography and they definitely deserve to win on this opportunity.

The nominees for Actor in a supporting role in the 2020 Oscar Award are: Tom Hanks (A beautiful day in the neighborhood), Anthony Hopkins (The two popes), Al Pacino (The Irishman), Joe Pesci (The Irishman) and Brad Pitt (Once upon a time ... in Hollywood).

Speaking or writing about each of them, with justice, would be endless but a summary can be made. Tom Hanks (63 years old) was nominated for an Oscar 5 times and won twice (Philadelphia and Forrest Gump). His voice is well known through the animated films The polarexpress and the Toy Story saga. In 2016, he received The Medal of Freedom by President Obama and in The Legion of Honor by the government of France. He has been an actor, producer, narrator and director throughout his film career.

Anthony Hopkins (83 years old) won the Oscar Award with the role of Hannibal Lecter in The silent of the lambs. He is an actor, composer, writer, director and producer. In 1992, he received the title of Sir from Queen Elizabeth II. He is a member of the Greenpeace environmental group and has been a sponsor of campaigns for the rehabilitation of alcohol and drug addicts.

Al Pacino (79 years old) won the Oscar Award as the main actor in 1993 in the film Scent of a woman. He has received the honorary awards Cecil B. DeMille and The National Art Medal. He also received the Donostia Award for Professional Career at the San Sebastian Festival, in 1996. He has been a screenwriter, director and actor in both cinema and theater.

Joe Pesci (76 years old) was an Oscar winner for his role as Tommy DeVito in the movie Goodfellas, in 1991. He is an actor and singer. Together with Micheal Jackson he made the short film Smooth Criminal where he played Mr. Big. He has received the distinction of the British Academy of Arts and Television.

Brat Pitt (57 years old) was awarded the Oscar Prize as Producer of the movie 12 years a slave, in 2013. He has been nominated 2 times as main actor and 2 times as supporting actor in the Oscar Awards, including the nomination of this year. He is founder of the producer Plan B entertainment; actively participates in organizations that fight against AIDS and poverty in the third world. Together with ex-wife, he made the Jolie-Pitt Foundation to carry out humanitarian work in the world; that foundation donated significant amounts of dollars to Doctors without Borders and Global Action for Children.

With this summary we have an idea of the artistic and philanthropic trajectory of the nominees for the category of Actor in a supporting role, at the 2020 Oscars. It is not easy to decide a winner, not for their trajectories but for the roles they played in their recent movie The Academy should have 5 statuettes and deliver them to these versatile actors.

In any case, there will be only one winner and my favorite is Joe Pesci for his role as Russell Bufalino in the movie The Irishman.

Pesci was almost twenty years retired from acting and the press says that Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro were architects of this spectacular return of Joe.

The performance in The Irishman is memorable and will possibly be the last great cast of gangsters. Rusell Bufalino played by Joe Pesci is the head of a family of gangsters in north-eastern Pennsylvania at the time of Kennedy and Nixon. A look at power, the mafia and the interweaving of American politics delicately join Sheeran with Bufalino. Flashbacks can represent the dialogue between the aesthetics and ethics of cinema that Scorsese himself poses for reflection.

The Irishman is based on the book I Heard you Paint House where Sheeran makes allegory to paint the walls of the houses with the blood of his victims. Totally brutal and violent, where Russell Bufalino will take care furiously back.

Joe Pesci undoubtedly knows his job well and provides to A the Pacino and Robert De Niro platform to develop their roles in this great magnificent film that Scorsese again provides the public with support from Netflix.

Me and Scorsese stayed here. We wanted Pesci to come home with this golden statuette and we couldn't do it (sad face). Pesci's performance but remain in history ...

must actually watch the IRISHMAN WHEN I CAN

I haven't seen any of these films and I don't care about the awards, but they're all good actors. Nice article although I'd like to see a more objective defense of your choice of Joe P.

Possibly you're right that I did not sufficiently argue my decision for Pesci

I'd love to see more from you, and also what you liked about the other candidates!

This is a good review Marcy! I loved Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump and I think that Al Pacino is a great actor also. In fact, I named one of my cats Pachino after the movie Scarface that he was in. I adopted one of my cats when he was one year old and he had been abused, and had a long open wound on the side of his face. I thought that wound would turn into a scar on the side of his face. I haven't been to the movies or even seen one in many years so I have no idea who will win. I was shocked to know how old these actors are now.

Even I was surprised at the ages. I was investigating the filmographies of these actors and they have truly been solid in the cinema. I have seen many movies of them and each one has left some mark on us. Thanks for reading and commenting, regards
