Fantastic Beasts 2 Has Casting Call For Teenage Versions Of Main Characters

Teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18 are invited to audition for a number of roles!

Have you ever fancied yourself as a Hollywood actor? If yes, look no further! A new casting call for the sequel to Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them reveals that Warner Brothers is looking for teenage actors that will be able to play younger versions of the characters seen in that film, alongside a younger version of a new character and a certain famous wizard who we’ll be reunited with for the first time in years.

As for the roles: the Pottermore site has posted an open casting call, looking for three actors aged 13-16 to play “Young Newt,” “Young Leta,” and a new character called Sebastian. Excitingly, it also asks for two actors aged 16-18 to play younger versions of Gellert Grindelwald and Albus Dumbledore. While the plot to the sequel is still surrounded by a Confundus Charm, it certainly sounds like we could be heading back to Newt Scamander’s teenage years.

K Rowling has previously hinted that Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald’s complicated relationship will be dealt with in the five film run. Casting teenage versions of the characters suggests that fans may finally get to see their famous beach duel and the death of Ariana Dumbledore, as well as the development of their obsession with the Deathly Hallows.

The casting of a young Newt and Leta, meanwhile, suggests that we may well see exactly why the young magizoologist was kicked out of Hogwarts, and discover the true nature of his relationship with the mysterious Ms Lestrange.

No previous acting experience is necessary, but applicants need to be eligible to work in the UK (meaning they must be a UK, Irish or EU passport holder), and be available for filming between August and November this year.
