While SiemReap's taste remained in my palate, my next stop was Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. Phnom Penh is definitely worth a visit, especially for visiting the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum).
It was very impressive to visit the places where a massacre was carried out 41 years ago. Pol Pot, who came to power in 1975, while trying to establish an agricultural country, many people thought to be intellectual were killed by the Khmer Rouge. It is a massacre where women who read, who are glasses, and those who speak other languages are killed, women are raped and babies are killed, regardless of the old, young and male.
Two reasons they killed babies at the time; it was easy and quick to kill and there was no family member who could take back revenge. When I looked at the glass canisters, skulls and bones in which the clothes of the dead were stored, I thought it was only 41 years ago. The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which I visited after the death fields, is a sad place where the Girl uses her as the interrogation office of Khmerler, photos of torture devices, photos of prisoners, chains of single cells.
In the garden of the museum, there were two treasure survivors. While he was trying to introduce his books to people, to sell them, and to see them smiling at everyone with the same warmth, he left me with a warm smile and deep sadness.
