Here's some shots of my golden oysters for this #mushroommonday by @balticbadger
I set the mushroom block up on friday morning, then by the end of the day the block was already pinning. Lots of little shrek ears are popping up.
By Saturday morning they had quadrupled in size. I setup a timelapse video that I'll eventually post.
Here's another shot from Saturday around mid day.
There are still a bit of tiny pins around the edges. Often these little ones just end up shriveling as the mycelium is focused on feeding the larger mushrooms.
Here is Sunday morning. Looks like they curled inward because of the humidity bag on top of them all night. I need to get a larger humidity tent for the next bloom so hopefully they won't be as deformed next time lol.
At this point they are ready to harvest. If they are left any longer then they will drop spores everywhere.
Here's a closeup of the gills.
Another backlit shot of the golden oyster. I still haven't figured out what to cook with these.
More gill closeups. Also note the way the gills run down the stem, this is a good identifier for finding oysters in the wild.
Here's the top of the golden oysters. Typically the cap will round out and bend down but mine ended up a bit deformed because of the small humidity tent.
This first batch made about enough for one meal. I like to get smaller mushroom blocks so I can actually eat the mushrooms before ending up with massive surpluses that go bad lol.
Happy #mushroommonday

Reformed but still beautiful! Looks great

I wonder what really caused them to get deformed. Maybe it was the filtered water i misted them with. I know a guy that mists them with natural spring water... or maybe they needed more sunlight who knows. Still edible.

Mushrooms this are looking very nice and also carry very essential protein and vitamins. Thanks for share your Monday photography.

These have a bit of thiamin and niacin in them. Most of the nutrient is protein.
So that is just from Friday until today?
Yeah, they grow fast. I need to figure out how to keep them from deforming.

Interesting shape. Mine were much flatter but also a different type of oyster.
Maybe i'll try putting them outside for the next bloom

Was yours a king oyster? They tend to be flat with a fat stem.

I don't think so but I don't know what it was other than some novelty "you can grow mushrooms" kit. I just know that next time I will be ramping up production. I was getting enough for a side order of mushrooms for dinner each night.
