A review about Heart of Glass and also Once I Had A Love by Blondie

in #music3 years ago

Today I am going to share a song which it is called "Heart of Glass" with you guys, It is a song by American New Wave Band Blondie, This song was written by Debbie Harry (Vocalist) and Chris Stein (Guitarist) of the band. This song was released in 1979 as one of the songs from their 3rd studio album and the album called Parallel Lines.

The song starts with a sampled percussion like samba songs which it will play along the whole song, this genre has elements from Rock music which we can hear it in the Electric Guitar and Bass lines, Debbie starts the verse with high notes, the synth parts in the verse adds a nice feeling to the verse sections, the chorus parts of this song is different than usual songs, in the chorus parts the vocals perform lower notes and there is also male back vocals in that section, the melodies and chords progressions of this song was done perfectly and is special. there are some funky style of guitar performances in this music, in the solo section though it is simple but the time signature is not as usual and it made it special. the songs ends with Blondie's singing choral parts and some nice drums fills.

also there was an old version of this song which was recorded in 1975 which recently someone showed it to me and I decided to add it to this post, Its genre is old disco and it has some nice funky riffs and awesome blues notes on guitar, the bass line is also adding such a nice energy to it, the tempo of this song is also slower and the drums performs a nice slow rhythm and its kit is different than the one in 1979, It was called "Once I Had A Love" it is more like a live performance. but at the same time they had done such a amazing work and she sings it so well like if it is a studio version.

I hope you enjoyed listening and reading this review.

This brings a lot of memories to me. Loved her songs! (and still do, but has been a long time ago I've listen to any of hers) Back in the days we had this TV program in our Dutch TV channel called TopPop. Our first ever music program on TV, which started in 1970. Every week an episode, and every week I was glued to the TV when the next episode was aired. Always just before my bed time, must have been airing at 19hrs, or 19:30... that I don't remember anymore. Owww, yea I was a child back then when Blondie was making waves in the pop music side of things :)

I am glad about it man, That's awesome, nice memory, thanks for sharing it with us :)

:)

that radio program was in which year? I mean the time you heard it.

TV program: when this track came out... back in 1979?
The TV program, was already launched back in 1970... It has an english wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TopPop

Thanks for information. :)

Glad to get to know there are other HIVE users out there who listen to Blondie. I've been listening to Debbie Harry since I was a little kid. It was worth every minute of it, no doubt.

I am glad about it, Thank you :)
