Do we value music enough?

This is the question that boggles my mind a lot these days, do we really value music enough?

I don't think so. I'm guilty of it myself and I hate it but I guess that is how world works today when we have all the music within a hand's reach.

I think we owe artists more of our time and especially patience, virtue that we lack and that will be the main focus of this post.

Why I say, owe? Here is why.

In some other times, when many of us weren't even born and folks did not have internet and all other modern time wonders it was a lot harder for an individual to get an album of their favorite band or a singer. You had to wait in a row for hours to get that new Pink Floyd album and hope it doesn't sell out before you get there, and if you're lucky enough to get it you actually had to pay for it.

After all the struggle to get that album, you come home, sit down and finally put a god damn vinyl on that gramophone and just close your eyes.

You don't mind listening for that 15 minute intro. You don't mind that track after intro is 20 minutes long. Because you fought to get that album.

Today? Well.

Open that Youtube tab, look at recommended, this one has a cool name. Press play, listen 8 seconds. Meh, skip to 1:24. Meh, NEXT!

Look right, oh that sexy girl with a cigarette thumbnail looks dope. Listen 13 seconds this time. MEH, NEXT!

And all i can imagine is an artist on the other side of the screen is like, for fucks sake dude. Give me a chance.

So yeah, moral of the story for listeners is, have a bit more patience. You might just be surprised by someone's creation.

For artists it's, these days if you don't catch your listeners' attention in first 10, 15 seconds you will have a lot harder time getting your track out there.

Tell me your opinion about this?

Peace.
