I began my life on earth in a small town called "West Stockbridge, Massachusetts" well known for music and it's home of "Tangle-Wood" & "Alice's Restauant" Arlo & Woody Guthrie, James Taylor and, others. ~ Back then, as it is also today an area claimed by: a Global Cultural Enclave of Writers, Poets and, Musicians.
When I arrived in the San Francisco Bay Area way back in 1959... That musical seed was firmly planted within me.... And because of that early baptism into the world of creativity and music...The logical thing for me to do was to start a band. Unknowingly, to me at the time that I arrived on the West Coast....That was to be Ground Zero of the whole 1960s music scene. Because of my musical leanings, I met and, got to be fiends with many of the local music icons. In my teens my band mates and I were out driving around in our very large and very kool 1948 metal-flake-brown Plymouth Band-Mobile.(A Converted Ambulance). While in Burlingame we happened by a park where we met this very friendly guy named Ken (Kesey) and his band of merry pranksters also had a very big and crazy vehicle... ~ We all became fast friends and Ken invited us up to his house in La Honda to play music .~ An offer which we Gratefully took advantage of !!!! That turned out to be the center of the universe of creativity where we all went down the creative rabbit hole together !
In my later years ~ I ended up eventually following that music thread again.... working in the Music Business for and with many major artists in different capacities. At one point I was asked by "Marty Balin" to try my hand at management and started my journey into Artists Management. ( After a few years of doing that ~ which proved to be too much like herding cats - while being surrounded by hungry wolves! ) I was offered an opportunity to move into Live Television.... At that point I began my career producing Live Televisvised Events via Satellite, My involvement was at a time of growth and milestone live global events. My end of the business grew exponentially both Domestically & Internationally in the years that followed.
So here we are 2017.... older and wiser ~ still with that strong desire to make music.
So, it's Back to the Future all over again.!
After that wild roller coaster ride.... I never lost my strong connection for playing and performing music.... It is part of my DNA & Part of who I am as Human being!
The Lessons I learned are simple.... First: It is all about "Sound & Tone" ~ Creating a Sound that has a 3D Shape & Depth and Weight. Then forming that sound into a thread interwoven with Rhythm that creates a vehicle you use to connect to the universe.... and then with your listeners.
MUSIC IS OUR SEED OF CULTURAL COMMUNICATIONS AND OUR VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS .
It is a Universal Voice that speaks for all of us... That proclaims that we are here, and we are very much alive!
IT IS NOT ABOUT:
Making catchy jingles for advertising...or formula songs that nicely fit into radio airplay regardless what all these so called experts tell you. Music is all about Creativity not Marketing! Free yourself... from the Shackles of Commercialism !!!! Join us !!!!
