DAVID BOWIE ... real name David Robert Jones ... Took Bowie from American frontiersman Jim Bowie...

David Bowie couldn't even remember recording Station to Station and according to one biography, he was subsisting on a diet of red peppers, cocaine and milk. This was during the era of the Thin White Duke persona.

According to many sources, the bulk of David Bowie's songs were written while high on cocaine during the 70s. That being said, his work is pretty awesome, so you can't argue with his artistic method.

And I thought Woodstock was so great!? But you say: Hellish. Euhmm... From what I read, it was an adventure which started right at the start of your Woodstock experience. But what about the festival itself? Like to read more about the two days in between the gazillion people, the stories you've created with them and all?

Depended where your head was... and how well you prepared 4 the event.. Nobody expected half million to show up. Those who got there early made out great. We had nothing no shelter from the rain ..no food ..But it was a great experience non the less ... I wasn't a hippie and didn't treat the music at the time like a religion.. Just there to have fun.. but was more of a nightmare.. Did get to hear Jimi play the star spangle banner from the cow pasture.. up to my knees in cow shit..

Back in the 60's / 70's marijuana was the go to high.. may still be, but I didn't go much beyond pot. Heard to many scary stories about LSD ..besides I had a job with a future to consider.

SONGS INSPIRED BY MARIJUANA

According to Toni Braxton "You're Makin' Me High" was definitely not about sex like we all thought. The veteran songstress stated that the song was actually about smoking a joint.

No, the last dance was not with a girl named Mary Jane like the video makes you believe. Mary Jane was actually his pot.

Pink Floyd - Comfortably numb

You get the picture... lots of artists using drugs for inspiration..

Lots were consumed and died at their peak ... SHORT LIST of the 27 CLUB

  • Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) died at 27, a heavy drug user who was particularly fond of LSD, had washed down a handful of sleeping pills with red wine before going to bed.

  • Janis Joplin (1943-1970) died at 27, She died of a heroin overdose in October 1970, less than three weeks after the death of fellow rock icon Jimi Hendrix.

  • Jim Morrison (1943-1971)died at 27, Morrison died of a heart attack apparently caused by a heroin overdose while living in Paris.

  • Kurt Cobain (1967-1994) died at 27, Under a glaring public spotlight, Cobain struggled with mental illness, chronic health problems and heroin addiction. He committed suicide in April 1994

  • Amy Winehouse (1983-2011)died at 27, Her substance abuse problems were frequent tabloid fodder and inspired some of her songs, most notably the hit “Rehab.” On July 23, 2011, Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment,

Sort:

Kurt committed suicide by overdosing and then shooting himself in the back of the head...

Thanks for organising that Courtney!

And to think I look back to the 90s as wild times.

But safe to say nobody will ever look back to today's music for any reason at all

You mean there is music today?

NO - i don't really...

This song is the only song of the past decade i like, and it sounds like the Beatles. But the video is awesome.

I think the art has lodged in my subconscious - it must flow from the same source.

But really, I just want to go back to bike shop sounds from 30 years ago.

The band that inspired Kurt Cobain:

You guys were wacky as hell on your Island Nation south of the equator...
1ST video would come great with a pot filled head..

My friend kevin would play head music as we watch wacky movies stoned..with the sound off on the movie.. laughed our asses off..
