Hey Steemit!!
I’m planning to film a 40/50mins long multi cam video in Spanish with english subtitles that will include everything I know to start playing, understanding and developing in this amazing music.
I’ve been fortunate enough to play with many of the best musicians in Argentina, studied with Mark Guiliana, Greg Hutchinson, Pipi Piazzolla among others, and played in International Jazz Festivals such as the Buenos Aires International Jazz festival 2017 and the Belize International Jazz Festival 2017.
I’m looking for drummers and musicians interested here on Steemit to let me know topics, techniques, concerns, ideas, etc, about what to explain and demonstrate in the video, and try to make it the most comprehensive I can about the style.
My idea was to :
A small amount of time :
- Technique for both hands (traditional grip / matched grip)
- Bassdrum technique / Feathering
- HiHat technique / Splash and sound for swing
- Swing technique on the ride and hihat.
- Comping exercises and concepts.
A big amount of time :
- Understanding the Blues and Standard form
- Developing language on the drumset
- What to listen to, who to listen to. When to play, when to comp.
- Improvisation exercises, DROP concept (Mark Guiliana).
- Moving on to modern jazz and grooves.

Estoy planeando filmar un video en multicamara de unos 40/50 minutos en Español con subtitulos en Ingles que incluirá todo lo que sé sobre tocar, entender y desarrollarse como baterista en este hermoso genero musical.
Tuve la suerte de tocar con muchos de los mejores músicos de Argentina, estudie con Mark Guiliana, Greg Hutchinson, Pipi Piazzolla entre otros, y toqué en festivales internacionales como el Festival Internacional de Jazz de Buenos Aires 2017 y el Belize International Jazz Festival 2017.
Estoy buscando bateristas y músicos interesados en este material acá en Steemit para que me digan temas, técnicas, preguntas, dudas, etc, para poder desarrollarlo y demostrar en el video, y tratar de hacerlo lo mas abarcativo posible sobre el estilo.
Mi idea es :
Poca cantidad de tiempo :
- Técnica de ambas manos (grip tradicional / matched)
- Técnica de bombo / Feathering
- Técnica de Hihat / Splash y sonido en el swing
- Técnica de swing en el ride y hihat
- Ejercicios y conceptos de acompañamiento
Mucha cantidad de tiempo :
- Entender la forma del Blues y de un Standard
- Desarrollar lenguaje en la bateria
- Qué escuchar, a quién escuchar. Cuando tocar, cuando acompañar
- Ejercicios de improvisación, concepto DROP (Mark Guiliana)
- Trasladar esa información hacia el Jazz moderno y grooves.

Honestamente me parece muy bien organizado asi como está la cosa , lo único que agregaría es una sección especial para noobs llamada, how not to suck at drums (for noobs) ;)
