The Time to Fly Project has given an official statement via its facebook page.
In line with projections, the blockchain music space will continue to grow massively over the next few years with more artists on-boarding. Musicoin attempted to deal with this issue through forking the Ethereum blockchain with limited success arguably. Choon is there with a centralised token based system, Platforms like SoundChains, aims to deal with the issue of copyrights and traceability of tracks online, a problem facing artists across the world with online piracy a clear and present problem. Of course, tracing any type of file is important for obvious reasons but artists need to be able to know where their work is so that they can be credited for the work and paid the appropriate royalties. Generally, as the globe warms up to the blockchain (as distinct from cryptocurrencies) we must all be careful not to place too heavy an emphasis on the monetary incentive but look to the massive utility potential of the blockchain to solve some the music industries fundamental problems. The Time to Fly Project will continue to work with artists and support their ongoing development with significant resources to promote diversity and inclusiveness in music and ensure that the benefits of the blockchain can be realised fully. The Time to Fly Project fully supports freedom of expression in the music space and totally condemns any attempt to censor (directly or indirectly) any musical works.
