Sejarah Awal Berdirinya Band The S.I.G.I.T ~ Band ini merupakan salah satu band Indie Indonesia yang tak kalah sukses dengan band-band Indie lainnya. Band ini diisi oleh 4 orang personel yakni Rektivianto Yoewono (vokal & gitar), Farri Icksan Wibisana (gitar), Aditya Bagja Mulyana (bass), dan Donar Armando Ekana (vokal & drum).

The Sigit terbentuk pada tahun 1997. Saat itu semua personelnya masih duduk di bangku sekolah Menengah Atas. Dan pada saat itu mereka belum menggunakan nama The Sigit sebagai nama band mereka, barulah di tahun 2002 nama tersebut dipakai. Nama Sigit ini bukanlah nama salah satu personel melainkan singkatan dari kata "The Super Insurgent Group of Intemperance Talent".
Di tahun 2004 mereka membuat demo album yang berjudul "EP" dan berisikan 6 lagu. Lagu-lagu mereka diperkenal ke publik lewat media sosial pada saat itu, seperti Myspace, Friendster, dan Facebook. Dan lewat media sosial inilah mereka berhasil menarik perhatian dari pemilik label musik di Australia.
Sukses mereka bertambah ketika mereka terpilih sebagai pengisi original soundtrack film "Catatan Akhir Sekolah". Lagu mereka yang dimasukkan sebagai original soundtrack berjudul "Did I ask yer Opinion".
Di tahun 2007 The Sigit mengeluarkan full album berjudul "Visible Idea of Perfection". Album ini terdiri dari 14 lagu dan kesemua lagu mereka ini mematerikan bahasa Inggris.
Di Tahun 2013 The Sigit kembali meluncurkan album baru yang bertajuk "Detourn". Album ini terdiri dari 11 lagu dan seperti pada album sebelumnya, kesemua lagu mereka ini berbahasa Inggris.
