The idea that everything above is just noise while the machinery underneath keeps it all together is a strong concept to build a track around.
That's the heart of it, really, the surface noise only works because the machinery underneath holds its nerve.
That concept kept the arrangement simple on purpose, too much detail on top would have killed it.
The line about the low end doing the arguing while everything else slides off says more about the mix than any technical breakdown could.
That line was the moment the whole track clicked into place for me, the low end really is doing the arguing.
