Still Nirvana and Foo fighters are the really music for me, these days there are so many new artist with no great product at the industry, such a shame.

great bands, i especially liked the foo fighters decision to record a whole album on tape machines instead of using modern technology.

Yeah that's why they're legend! But this year they'll record an album with pop producer, can't wait to hear it.

let's see if they can save pop music

I have no doubt about it.

ahhh you are getting close. great post simon, feelin @mohdfattahilliah comment. The music industry is an island that has been tidal waved and spread out to sea. There is a whole lot of crap out there. This is why we jump in and mix shit up and try to fight the main stream standards of pure and utter trash. I was just watching the latest top tracks off billboard and i about threw up. This new taylor swift song............................................................................... sighhhhh back to wanting to throw up. dont get me wrong im not saying these people suck as you lol or are not talented, im just saying 201 million views in 3 days off complete and dramatic overly marketed crap with no meaning at all that holds any powerful weight to what it could as a song being listened to by so many.... this world is feeling like its just under a heavy fog or smoke... There is so much heart right in front of us, all our passions and desires as humans , tech is exploding and options everywhere but no way to get a grasp on anything long enough to put it in place for change. as music artists i feel like its our job to put the feeling back into life and the perspective of the real times outside the bullshit, this is why artists like lennon and the beatles and queen, pink floyd, cash, and nirvana, NWA, tupac, and eminem made music that was so memorable and holds time, because they had shit to say, shit to feel that was real... there was life in it and learning to be had off the feeling. mainstream music today is just a big billboard ad for bullshit.. it means nothing, everything with quality gets washed away as soon as the money starts rolling in. Greed holds its grip on every aspect of life....I will make music forever, I will sing about anything and everything I want, It will be real for me in every aspect, If I never make it to these big numbers and profits and fame its because I wouldnt comprise myself and my potential. Bullshit hitting millions means nothing to a great tune hitting just 1 at the right time. Sound inspires the human soul to action. We make music, We make waves of energy.......
the mainstream industry promotes a mindless digital shockwave of numbness and stale.

amen

I tend to ignore the top 20 and don't listen to much music radio anyway. There is still lots of good music out there, but people may not get to hear it as the radio stations play the same old stuff.

It was encouraging that Steven Wilson, who is pretty much unknown to the general listeners, can have a number 3 album in the UK. I did hear one of his songs on the radio, but some may feel he compromised by being a bit more 'pop' than usual. He has said that he grew up with bands like Abba and wanted to do something in that vein. I hope a lot more people know about him now.

i don't listen to modern radio stations either. makes me sad

There are some stations worth listening to. BBC 6 Music in the UK plays a good variety of music that you won't hear elsewhere. They don't have the commercial pressures of other stations. BBC 1 and 2 are pretty mainstream during the day, but have some speciality shows in the evening. I get my prog fix from various shows on this site. I've found a lot of bands that way
