I didn't write anything for a long time, I didn't write about music for even longer, and I never wrote via Ecency in general. Well, I'll try to fix all three omissions in one fell swoop.
Kind people were not too lazy to create a selection of the most significant bands playing post-rock, post-metal and shoegaze/blackgaze (it's often difficult to distinguish one from the other, and even more often - totally impossible).

Leech
The band Leech was formed in 1995 in Switzerland. Right from the start the band devoted itself to experimental instrumental music - rhythmic figures are developed and connected with floating melodies - this all fuses in an epic sound landscape where time becomes irrelevant.

Mouth of the Architect
Ohio based band Mouth of the Architect, have undoubtedly been one of the most influential bands of the genre. Formed in 2003, Mouth of the Architect have released 5 LPs till date. They have been one of the first bands that got us into post-metal subgenre and this mixtape consists of some of our all time favorite tracks from their amazing discography.

Syberia
Syberia is an Instrumental post-rock quartet from Spain (suddenly not from Russia, lol). Their style of music gives off such a warmth and instrumental intensity that they attracted our attention from the very first minute. Dreamy passages and explosions of real magic. Formed in 2010, the band has released 3 LPs till date and the fourth album, "Statement on Death", is releasing on May 6, 2022 via Metalblade Records.

Cloudkicker
Cloudkicker is the brainchild of Columbus, Ohio based multi-instrumentalist and virtuoso, Ben Sharp and was formed in 2005 as a studio-only project. Heavily influenced by post-metal and math rock, Sharp utilizes drum machines and custom-tuned guitars in his recordings. He has released 11 albums and 5 EPs till date.

Baulta is an instrumental post-rock band formed in December 2008 in Finland. They have released 3 albums and 1 EP till date and their new album, Another Second Chance, released on March 5, 2021 via Dunk! Records and A Thousand Arms.

Ison
The band Ison was formed in 2015 on the outskirts of Gothenburg, Sweden. Inspired by black metal and shoegaze, combined with a deep fascination for the astral planes and the universe. They have three release 3 LPs - COSMIC DRONE (2015), ANDROMEDA SKYLINE (2018), INNER-SPACE (2019).

Locomotora
Locomotora is an instrumental post-rock band from Finland, formed in 2006. Besides post-rock, Locomotora leans towards ambient, experimental and minimal music. There have made 3 LPs so far - "S/T" (November, 2009), "This very holding back" (Jan 2013) and "Vuodet, vuoret" (March 2018).

Kokomo
The band Kokomo is an instrumental post-rock quintet from Germany, formed in 2008. Musicians are known for their profound atmospheric walls of sound that traverse between post-rock and post-metal. They are a very active live band and have had numerous tours in and out of Europe throughout the past decade. Kokomo have released 2 EPs and 4 studio LPs till the date.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor
It goes without saying that this band created the stepping stone for the evolution of the genre of post-rock. Formed in the early 90's, GY!BE transformed into a large group of musicians. Almost every post-rock fans are more than familiar with the subtle political commentary by virtue of their album and song titles and insanely lengthy track, which is why the band has arguably the biggest cult following within the realms of post-rock.

Meniscus
Meniscus is an instrumental post-rock outfit hailing from Australia. The members of band had a presence in the post-rock scene for almost a decade with a unique brand of technical post-rock with monumental walls of sound and heavy prog rock influences. They have released only 3 albums till date, but have enough firepower to be considered as one of the best post-rock bands in existence today.

There is not much explanation required for this 4 piece experimental post rock group hailing from Sweden. Their idiosyncratic compositions are a statement in itself as they are truly cinematic in their song structures while having a unique condiment of sonic awesomeness.

The band Sleepmakeswaves is a post-rock outfit hailing from Australia and have been astonishing fans of post rock worldwide with their highly dynamic and energetic barrage of instruments that never fails to hit the right spot. The musicians from Sleepmakeswaves have been known for their explosive presence on stage since 2006 and have also released 4 full length albums and 3 EPs.

This Patch of Sky
This Patch of Sky is a cinematic post rock band from USA and are known for creating slow burning ambient passages accompanied by heavy guitar laden crescendos. They have been in the post-rock scene from 2011 and since then the band has slowly progressed from aggressive and fast paced compositions to deeper atmospheric wall of sounds while staying true to their unique style of infusing quiet, loud and magnanimous song structures.

Russian Circles
Russian Circles have been one of the most influential post-metal bands of all time from Chicago. The trio was founded in 2004, the name "Russian Circles" comes from a hockey training exercise, the band has nothing to do with the country of Russia. The first album released in 2006, brought to the band success and put the newcomers on a par with the veterans of the scene. A group of just three musicians (guitar, bass and drums) managed to achieve an amazingly dense sound. The next albums of Russian Circles strengthened success, raising the musicians higher and higher to the musical Olympus.

This 4 piece outfit hailing from Japan have mastered the art of infusing lumbering instruments with visceral melancholic and cinematic guitar licks that leaves their listener dumbfounded and craving for more.

As post-rock giants, the band Jakob debuted in 1999 with their self-titled album. Have no words to express gratitude to Jakob for changing lives with their utterly atmospheric, bass laden tunes that shift from dark and compelling to uplifting throughout their releases over the past 20 years. Jakob have altered the post-rock with their unique compositions and wish that they continue on to amaze the world for many more years to come.

Caspian
The band Caspian entered the post-rock scene in 2003, where the genre was still in its developmental stage and it took no time for them to make a name for themselves. Their unique compositions, crushing melodies, organic and unforced flow to their songs are few of the attributes that make them a truly marvelous sonic experience. Known for their explosive live presence on stage, Caspian have been featured twice on Audiotree sessions and KEXP and have had numerous tours all around the world, mesmerizing audiences with their presence.
