I recorded this song to share on the on-line open mic for our local musicians, but I thought I could post it here too. I had not heard this Queen song in a long time, but it was being played on a documentary about them that I caught part of last night. I need to watch the whole thing.
I looked up the chords and played it through a few times. There is a bit with Bm over a descending bass that I have not quite got. I started off strumming barre chords, then open chords. Then I tried finger-picking it and quite liked that. This style is a bit of a challenge to me due to my weakened right hand. You may notice I struggle a bit and resorted to strumming the last chorus.
I recorded in our new summerhouse. There may be some ambient noise of birds and traffic. After I had done my three songs for the open mic I kept playing for a while. I just went through various songs I know to refresh them in my mind. I do not think anyone was listening in on me. We do not have really close neighbours.
You may as well have a bonus of one of my own songs. I wrote this for an old Steemit Open Mic songwriting challenge where we were given titles to use.
I hope everyone is coping well with the lockdown. Music helps me get through it.
Rock on!
steemit openmic songwriter challenge was a great initiative I loved it so much, I really like to write songs and I remember to dream with winning that guitar!
special delivery was one of my songs too!! and it gaves me the opportunity to meet one of my brother's, @wilins who really enjoyed the song and we made some videos together before he moved out to Spain, check this, it's my favorite:
They are good. We need more active musicians on Hive.
working on it, we do not only need musician, we need artist that could make social impact to made awareness about Blockchain.
Exactly. If some of them could bring fans from other platforms they could earn well. I will keep telling people about it.
Haven't heard that one in a while! Good track!
I didn't bring my guitar one my little social-distancing vacation I'm on, and I'm definitely missing it. I usually sing dog-themed parodies of songs that I like, to my dogs. They're a great audience.
We need to hear you music when you get a chance. I really miss my guitar when I don't have it. Not sure our cat is that bothered about my playing.
Animals are great for being unflustered audience members.
I might join in on some open-mic stuff, but I'll admit to still learning, and being a bit shy in terms of 'putting myself out there'.
We'll see though -- maybe I'll feel compelled once I get back to my noise maker ;)
I have been listening to a lot of music myself during the lock down. Great job on the songs! I really like your creativeness!
I think I have got more creative as I have played more. You absorb all kinds of music and it allows you to come up with different ways to play a song.
Great job Steve and I love the idea of a summer house. For now I'd do with a new shed as ours is looking a little rickety.
Love the finger picking! It may be a challenge but it sounds great.
