I loved DJ Shadow's The Outsider Intro ever since The Outsider album was launched, back in 2006. Since then, I've envisioned in my head, over and over, a video that would play out whilst the words are spoken. In my head it's an animation, but knowing that I simply didn't have the skill, nor the technical know-how to make it happen, I started thinking about placing the monologue as the backdrop for movie scenes.
But which movie?
I've been mulling over this question for many years until the answer came, in the form of Mad Max: Fury Road.
A couple of months after watching the movie, writing an analysis of it - and still thinking about it during my waking life, I realized that the words of The Outsider Intro monologue describe Max's character to a great degree. It wasn't long from this realization to the creation of this fan-video.
I made this fan-video for DJ Shadow's The Outsider Intro, using scenes from Mad Max: Fury Road.
