I did a professional post graduate degree in Yoga. Some people might think Yoga is only for the body. It is both for body as well as mind. In my professional degree though practical Yoga was just one paper, I got an opportunity to gain lots of theoretical knowledge about Yoga.

So when it comes to practice, I feel the practice should be specific to both mind as well as body. Along with the body strength, a person will also definitely need a good mental strength to stay healthy. Yoga talks about lots of things that will need changes to lifestyle. It is not just about practicing Yogasanas for 2 hours every day and call yourselves as Yogic practitioner.

Every action that we do in our day to day life will determine whether we really practice Yoga or not. After a 2 hours of Yogasana every day if we still feel like hitting someone or killing someone, we can never be called as a good Yoga practitioner.

Yoga is also about service to mankind. It is not just enough if you keep your body and mind healthy. We should also be taking efforts to share good things with others as well, who are interested to learn more about Yoga. That is also one type of practice.

If all these things accumulated together is called as Practicing Yoga, I bet only few people here practice real Yoga. Others are just fooling around saying they are doing Yoga practice every day. Of course every day a physical practice is mandatory but along with that we should also do a mental practice everyday to live as per the values the Yogic scriptures say.

I do not practice yoga mainly because it is not a common thing in my country, I've thought about it before but it's not a frequent thought I have. It'll be good to learn a few poses though even if it's just to impress my friends.
