Do you have any personal suggestions on how to improve and secure the steemit experience?
i got to thinking ... and when that happens it happens (answer in answer and on steemit @rudyardcatling) please do comment your opinions

What I did was allot at least 1-2 hours per day on Steemit
Steemit (or any other steem platforms) not only requires "decent to exceptional contents" but also "constant" social interactions.
In order for anyone to improve his/her Steem experience, one must go out of their comfort zone and start to interact with other fellow steemians with more or less the same interests as yours.
From what I've seen, people who don't bother visiting other people's blog are often unsuccesfull here on Steem
i think the social interaction is a lot more necessary at low level (monetary) than the actual content, ive seen really crud-posts go in the thousands , people explaining why steemit is the new bitcoin ... with no real facts underlaid, just looking in a crystal ball, telling everyone what they wanna hear, then make sure it gets pumped to trending or hot
i notice i get about the same for posting a picture of my dishes than i do for the fluffiest picture of my cat, the content really doesnt mean all that much in the beginning, not unless you have a nice master to roll over to lol
so the social interaction might get you some attention , and especially trying to reply to any comment thats more than "nice post, k thx" lol
then , unless you're a cryptonnaire before you started you might find your niche, (as you say) people with same interests
all too true, i spend a lot of time on it , it grows
SLOW but it does lol, if i could throw a few 1000 at it from the start id be marching on already, but i dont have that, sadly
people who say its all about the content and nothing bout the money or how "it should not be" are blinded to reality imo ...
pop sells , so does silly, just look at the frontpages of twitter and youtube ... its all total bs, right ?
same thing here, its all a mirror of real life
invest your time in it. the more time you invest in steemit the better your results are. dont do it for money, do it for engagement. its an emerging community of likeminded people and its fun to engage with other people, reading their posts and sharing experiences.
cant say much about security. steemit has not been hacked since i started using it and if you keep your keys safe and dont use share computers or internet you should be good.
i agree on one part : you should do what you are , not what you think will sell, but anyone here who tells me they're not here for the money are either born rich or slightly bending the truth to look better lol , thats what i believe anyway
as for security, ... i think its a miracle no accounts have been compromised yet, granted the passwords are complex enough but it takes just one trojan (or local access to get round that)
but you are totally right, i havent heard about a breach yet either
all for the better
I believe that steemt should create a feature
Whereby the reputation score of a steemit user
Can also determine how much their upvotes
Will worth because it is not every steemit users
That have the capital to buy plenty steempower
Or to lease huge steempower
Some steemit users have good contents that is
Very good for the steemit platform and some
People would really have loved to upvote
Such good contents but they cannot do that
Because their upvotes is not effective due to
Their low steempower
That is why in many situations we do see some people create worthless contents and they still
Get alot of upvotes just because they have
Friends with plenty steempower or some just easily create another steemit account and Buy
Steempower to the account then used the account to upvote contents created by their alternative accounts which is not good for the steemit platform
Yes well thats where steem represent a picture of "real life". All politics and 1%-er lobbyright ... nothing different from washington or brussels there.
It works like pop-music : if you buy 100.000 of your own songs you are in the top charts, and the visibility will act to get you sold to a few 100.000 or a million more which is profit
"small" people can't do that, i share your concern completely, i often find it very demotivating to try and put time into it .... i post a picture of my dishes it gets the same as the fluffiest picture of my cat ... i spend five hours on a post, it gets one fifth of something i type out in two minutes ...
its VERY de-motivating and imo one of the main reasons why there are so many stale accounts and accounts that go silent after a few weeks or months
So plankton has to stick together, just like the upper class does, the other problem is the price right now does not allow for plankton to help each other out (unless you get hundreds of votes on a post) which is why i still suspect it's a whale move to stay in power.
reputation is more like a display of how appreciated you have been over time and posts have a VERY short period in which you can get paid, about a magazine's worth of time i suppose.
It's important to comment a lot, and make full comments really, not just "nice post, plz upvote" as i'm sure you've seen around but even then, at current prices it takes a LOT of time and effort before you see something moving in your wallet, right ?
the way reputation works however would still not help since if you are a cryptonnaire, you can buy 50 accounts and vote yourself up with 100000 steem power each and your reputation will be over 70 in no time at all
but i totally hear you and i share your concern, it is VERY hard to find an entry point and even harder to sustain and keep it up day after day until its worth it. Like the answer above says in much more friendly words : it's an elitist racket where a few rich keep eachother in the money.
No different from your global megacorp and holdings each owning 200 companies pretending to compete while they don't they have an absolute monopoly and they just do it julius caesar way : pretend, then divide et impera
but you cant let that stop you, there's a few decent people hiding up there too, but they dont dare make too much noise, people tend to like the loudmouth with the big word and the strong arm
just look at the last american elections lol (not that hillary was much of a choice ofcourse)
see what i mean ? here i go again writing essays ... i think almost no one ever gets to the bottom of my posts
Steemit is one of the best platform for blogging and sharing our views and blogs like wise i was doing the same thing with my another account due to my 1 mistake i have been flushed out from this platform. I had forget my recovery password and my laptop was not getting on so till date its is not repair and my earning was gone so i better suggest to keep your password and private key safe so that you can recover your account .
i prefer to spread the steem across several "alts" , i also try to give every alt at least some use and keep them active but i only have one that would count as actual "content" as the word goes ... if i lose one password i only lose 1/xTH of what i have, thats the best i can think of for now
no editing comments yet ? mh , i just forgot to add : i assume steemit does not keep the passwords and keys for several practical reasons, one of it liability : if they get compromised its possible tens of thousands of accounts are compromised and two : deniability : if they dont have the hashes and keys, governments can't subpoena to hand them over :)
mega.nz does that too
i mean its crypto, right ... EOS froze several accounts simply on "suspicion" didnt even have proof yet, imagine that, someone only having to point a finger and poof your account is frozen, that would be bad, right ?

Improving the steemit experience can be done by
first of all ensuring that all creators of good contents benefit more from steemit while we find
a system that can discourage spammers on
steemit,i believe that the activities of a steemian should be used to determine the worth of their
upvotes so that spammers will not be able to buy
Steempower and use it to get undeserve upvotes
while a creator with good contents gets absolutely nothing
thats because promotion is politics and its easy to make money with money. But a one-size fits-all system to filter content from spam is way beyond the capability of a.i. at present, its even beyond the capability of steemcleaners as i have experienced, they just go on the hype sometimes and who would define what decent content is and what not ?
the nazis defined content, then they burned books, the whole nation agreed that they were only keeping "the right content" while only a handful of people decided what that meant, it took years and millions of lives to set the record straight ... a bit of a strong metafor
but still a very relevant one, i feel the cleaners should stick to cleaning abuse mostly, like they're doing now with the new wave of "trollflagger"-trolls, i 100% agree to that, but picking people on their content ? ... i don't
thats what a mute button is for, you push that button, you will never read those people again
Improving Steemit can be done when we have more contests and people will write their heart out.
writing your heart out is not always appreciated i'm afraid more people will try to go for what they think will "sell" than try to be themselves and write from the heart since "its gotta be always positive" but who the hell has a life like that ? only people on t.v. , right ?
i have a few @ubasti but i dont wanna advertise too much here ... i was more aiming at technical improvements here but all your comments are greatly appreciated, thanks much , i'm not sure a 33% vote here is a full 0.02 so maybe you want to add an own vote, i'm sorry but i cant vote more than i have :)
thanks a lot for replying
