Butterfly Season - Show Us Your California

in #mycalifornia4 years ago

Hi Friends,

This post is an entry into the weekly contest of @thesocalhive where we show our california.

With spring ending and summer starting it means that it is time for butterfly season! I confess I do not know the names of all the different types of butterflies but love seeing the variety that is around right now.

This year, we decided to “grow” our own butterflies as well. We ordered the caterpillars from a company and they came in the mail (yeah, who would have guessed you could do that!). They ate for about 2 weeks before making their cocoons, and another week to hatch into butterflies. We had them in a butterfly enclosure for a few days, where they ate things like citrus fruit. Then it was time for the release into the wild!

Here are a couple of pictures:

So butterfly season is alive and well here in my california!

Thanks for coming by,

What a fun little project! Watching one of natures miracles first hand.

That is so very interesting... "growing butterflies"... just lovely. And the kids surely must love them judging from their adorable smiles! Thanks for sharing your California, my friend @brian.rrr.
Stay safe and take care 🥰🌺🤙
