It's been over a year since my fiancée and I moved back to Southern California. We have always been a "brunch couple," always looking for good spots and recommendations where we can spend our late mornings to enjoy good food and coffee. Some weekends, we'd travel to a neighboring town or city. This past weekend, though, we went to a place just right by the lake nearby.
One of her best friends was in town. She had been here once before but we really hadn't shown her around. Aside from them having their "girl time," going to a winery and to a casino, I wanted her to try out one of the food spots we like going to. The name of the spot? Bobber on the Lake.
It was a great day to be out! It was sunny and the temperature was in the low seventies. We got to the restaurant a little later than usual. We typically have brunch there around 10am when there's not a lot of guests yet. On Sunday, though, we went around 1pm. As expected, it was busier, and apparently, this was standard around this time according to one of the servers.
On weekends, they have the breakfast menu available from 9am-2pm. I wanted to try their barbecues so I thought about maybe waiting until after 2pm when they take out their regular menu. Considering the party I was with only wanted sandwiches, and one of the other burgers I wanted to try was available in the breakfast menu anyway, we decided to get seated as soon as possible before the waiting time got longer.
The ladies ordered some drinks while I just waited until a table was ready for us. I walked around for a bit and took some photos of the area. It's a nice recreation space with RV and water activity rentals. Maybe we can try these next time.
We got seated a few minutes before 2pm. I contemplated asking for the "after 2pm" menu but decided maybe I can just do that next time. The ladies ordered club sandwiches while I got myself a cheeseburger. They had fries, I had onion rings. Good stuff!
After the meal, they walked towards the lake to see what's around it. I went to the car and waited in the parking lot. A few minutes later, my lady sent me a text asking to come around and pick them up on the other side of the parking lot. They were ready to go home.
I drove around, picked them up, and drove some more until we got back to our place. Everybody needed some time to rest. Our friend had to pack for an early evening flight back to the Bay Area.
Life is good. We are blessed with good food and good company.
