MyEtherWallet Informative Popups

Check out new informative popups on MyEtherWallet.com that may help you understand more crypto stuff

Rule #1: Do NOT share private key(s) (like done above)!

If your inclined to send something to an MEW/ETH address please send here instead: 0xcbdbe22e918b1E62d3df63b4b71e3D3F089BfAd8 and only ever share a public address to protect your wallets.

You may scroll through instead of clicking through and look at whatever ones you want to or not this way. Please understand for your safety and others for MEW wallet and other crypto wallets too.

With a private key only the one with the private key may make a debit or negative change to the wallet. With the public key anyone may make a postive change to the wallet address (account).

Wallets are interfaces that allow the ability to interact with the cryptocurrency protocols with public and private keys allowing for views of different information and permissions.

Blockchain is more like a decentralized ledger than a spreadsheet being immutable unlike a spreadsheet where entries may be changed. Instead blockchains allow for something change entries with new blocks serving as a permanent record during every current block. Different blockchains use different proofs such as STEEM that uses DPOS (Delegated Proof of Stake).

Remember that you are solely responsible for the security of your accounts. So be sure to back up your keys and keep them safe!

One of the main points is that you are in control of your account! This is a first as other systems needed to trust a third centralized party. Instead of giving permission to another party to do something, you instead have full control and don't need another permission giving the owner of a wallet full control due to the trust-less factor that results from decentralization of such controlling third parties making them not needed anymore.

Always (double) check URLs! Only use and click on links you know or are sure are safe to use preferably from trusted sources.

Beware of potential scams. As with most things in life go with and use things that you know and understand! If you don't fully know or understand do more research and do your due diligence.

Be sure to protect yourself from loss and securely back up your public and private keys in safe places!

Thanks @virtualgrowth for sharing this informative post about securing our wallets.

Always a fan of yours. I included this article in my magazine VG. I also have your OpenLedger link embedded, you'll see. Thank yous and be well. Congratulations! I think you are cool and featured you in me new Steem Magazine! https://steemit.com/news/@jacobts/jts-steemit-magazine-1

Great! and thank you very much! Feel free to let me know if anything I may do as a contribution to help out.

I can see a whole new generation of scammers being born. Back in the days people claiming to be banks would rob people.

Now I can see in the future scammers going door to door to old people and getting their private keys xD

This just to say thank you for the warnings, and that no matter what we think is obvious for us there are many who don't know or have the right information.

We on Steemit belong to a group that is quite adept at handling crypto, but your everyday person of 40+ years of age... that's a different story.

Thank you very much dear @virtualgrowth Sir for sharing a very great post regarding spamming / scamming in online transfer the cryptocurrency in now a days. I appreciate your guideline, tips and tricks. Please continue sharing the valuable stuff towards community specially for the new comers. All the best!
By the way I will must take a look ay MyEtherWallet, once I get free.
