I love the sound they make, and if I remember correctly they taste good too.

I think the best wild game meat I ever had was from a yearling cow elk. It was truly remarkable. I hope you get to try some soon. Beware of the big bull though. The horns are pretty, but sometimes hamburger is the only way to handle those guys...Best!
We don’t have elk in Alaska, would have to travel to the states and get a hunting license for a non-resident. 😕
