RE: Sand Shark

Was it returned to the sea (alive) or did your friend eat it?

I once made the mistake of tasting skate (a closely related species - both elasmobranchs). Boy, were the urea levels high in it. I wouldn't have been surprised if I'd been eating AMMONIA as well.

One mouthful and that was it for me. The bin had the rest.

Great picture, though. :)

Fish was safely returned to the waters, although on a related matter, if you take fish like shark or ray, and really have to eat it or want to😂 just cut the fillets out submerge it in milk overnight in the fridge that will draw out most of the Mercury and foul ammonia taste and it should be much better, my dad taught me that as a kid but yeah hope this was helpfull...

That was very helpful. And I particularly like the bit about it drawing out 'most of the Mercury...'! 😜 I doubt I'd dare buy it fresh again, though.

I reckon its just better to get some salmon or hake instead of expending all the effort on the shark's or Ray's
