This Steemit, Inc. abandoned UI has become a junkyard, and @ned has openly stated that he doesn’t care about this place, in so many words.
The narrative team has an interesting experiment designed. Let’s see what actually happens.

Dude. Steemit, to me, is a great showcase of just how horrible of a shit show decentralization is.
Scorum is more centralized and look at how much better it is. People just really aren't that organized.
Voluntary centralized interaction is no prob for me. And you make a point here. That much I cannot deny.

It will launch in March of 2019. Right now folks can get on the signup list (usually only takes a few days to a week), and read about what’s going on, as well as bid on, suggest, and own niches.
Let me know what you think of it. I signed up for Whaleshares at the behest of a few folks, and though I like some things about it, I find that I just don't have time to post in both places. Yeah! I like bit.tube. Signed up months ago but never really used it.
As for Steem, who knows, man. Might rebound. Might suck. All I know is that the team is basically garbage (no disrespect to their humanity), and that any network that has repeated outages for 10+ hours and fires 70% of the staff during a market downturn isn’t, probably isn’t too promising.
They should have sold a bunch of steem at 5 dollars and kept fiat cash on hand to pay people with. Planning to always pay people in steem seems really shortsighted.

steemit (just the interface!) might be a junkyard, but there are better interfaces/UIs, like steempeak... It will work very well, as long as the steem blockchain is properly developed.
The steem blockchain can’t even stay online in a stable fashion (see last two 10+ hour outages) and now the witnesses are operating at a loss, while Ned fires 70% of the team.

Since I commented above I've been looking around their site/whitepaper. I'm wrong on the influencer thing, that was another project.
Negative reputation score - no commenting/posting/ban.
Tribunal - "elected" group, initially to consist of staff, controls content/users, 1 year positions x 10 (entire duration). Identity of tribunal = clearly not you or me.
Owners (buy niches) --> appoint moderators --> moderators remove comments
Owners = "Founders will be given at least two-week head start in reserving/purchasing the first set of niches" aka all good niches will be owned by staff.
So all of that taken into consideration, what would prevent someone like Kokesh who is excellent at raising funds and public support with his dogshit from buying the "anarchy" niche and then controlling everything in it? Sure you can go try to buy some version of it but we all know that only the main ones will gain traction.
To be honest, it'd be less of a headache to just fork your own chain somewhere.
Well, not really for me. I don’t mind a little leadership, as long as all is voluntary, etc. I actually own the niche “Voluntaryism,” so that is my little investment there.
As I understand it, compared to Steemit, there is more control in the hands of average users. Even if you own a niche, moderators still exist. These moderators can be directly affected by average users.
I think we'll see how it all plays out. It may prove to be a good investment for you, at least in the short term. The one positive I noticed is they allocated a decent amount of money for marketing.
I'm not convinced about it at all personally. I'd rather be called an asshole and spammed to hell on a chain where no one can install a centralized tech ban against an account than be at the whim of some moderator/owner/tribunal.

You'll let me know how it is. My brain can only manage so many platforms, so I'll stick to Steemit for now. It's as though some higher ups are giving up because the market is down, while this is the time to relish is this low time before it gets super high again. It's ok that it's low. It happens. Not a reason for the higher ups to think Steem is dying though. If Steem is dying then so is everything else. I'm just waiting it out.
The “higher ups” are engaging in some pretty questionable practices, it would seem. I was fine blogging for 12 cent Steem before when the vision was there, but I can sense when I’ve been had. I’m still here, though, in some capacity. @voluntaryjapan.
