Lemon is considered a real natural medicine, it guarantees the body countless benefits, including an important cleansing and antioxidant action. It is also considered since ancient times as the vegetable that best encapsulates the properties of heat, sun and light, lemon is an incredible disinfectant, anti-inflammatory and digestive stimulant fruit.

Lemon is cultivated worldwide in its most numerous varieties and types, according to some genetic studies, lemon is an ancient hybrid, probably between grapefruit and cedar, but for centuries it has become an autonomous species that reproduces by grafting and cutting.

Lemon is rich in water, dietary fiber, mineral salts such as potassium, calcium and iron; Its composition is characterized by the large amount of vitamin C and a notable contribution of other vitamins such as A, B, C, PP. The carbohydrates contained consist essentially of glucose and fructose, which are simple sugars. Also notable is the contribution of organic acids such as citric acid and malic acid, responsible for their flavor, and important coenzymes useful for the proper functioning of our metabolism.

Given its innumerable properties, lemon is now considered a true natural drug. The use of lemon juice guarantees the body a series of benefits that include a purifying and fluidifying action of the blood, bacteriological, to quench thirst, refreshing, digestive, hypotensive, and we could continue with other characteristics that make it even more appreciable than the orange, highly praised for its vitamin C content, which in any case is less than the amount we can find in our lemon.

It is incredible how all parts of the lemon are characterized by healthy properties. Rich in sebaceous glands, the lemon peel is used for the production of oils used in both the food, pharmacological and cosmetic sectors; the spongy part is rich in flavonoids that make it a powerful antioxidant; the pulp, from which the juice can be obtained, contains citric acid, ascorbic acid and vitamin C; finally the seeds, from which the oils are extracted, are rich in pectin, which is used as a thickener for jams.

Lemon has a purifying action on all devices, allows to reduce the accumulation of fats in the blood and helps eliminate toxins that tend to accumulate daily. Citric acid promotes the formation of effective potassium carbonate against gastric acidity, helping the liver and pancreas to facilitate digestive action, purifying the body of the accumulation of toxins and determining the rebalancing of intestinal function (thanks to limonene content , also helps fight nausea and diarrhea). In addition, through its alkalizing action, it combats the formation of acid derivatives of metabolism (free radicals) and reactivates the elimination of accumulated waste: for this reason, its use is useful in the primary prevention of rheumatism, gout and stones .

Thanks to its high content of vitamins, lemon can increase the production of white blood cells and, therefore, carry out a protective action against the flu, cold and cough, stimulating sweating through the decrease in temperature bodily. It also helps fight throat infections because it has antibacterial properties.

Lemon is rich in vitamin C, flavonoids, carotenoids and coumarin derivatives (coumarin is the substance that generates the sweet smell of freshly cut grass), it is a powerful natural antioxidant, useful to combat the accumulation of free radicals, responsible of aging and some degenerative pathologies such as atherosclerosis, arthritis, heart attack, rheumatism and respiratory problems.

Lemon is considered an adjuvant in the destruction of gallbladder stones; Lemon juice can cure kidney stones that form urinary citrate, which prevents the formation of crystals.

Lemon is important for maintaining low uric acid levels, thanks to its ascorbic acid (vitamin C) content it can help reduce uric acid levels in the blood and, therefore, its use is important in the primary prevention of Hyperuricemia and gout.
