Following are the point to be kept in mind while selecting site for quarry
1.There should be ample space for installation of crushers, storage of stones and other material available near site.
2.For easy and efficient working of quarry tools, power, materials and labour should be available near the site.
- Space should be available nearby for disposal of refuse and quarry waste.
- The distance of the quarry site should be minimum from the transportation facilities.
- There should be proper provision for drainage of rain water.
- Cost of quarrying at selected site should be economical.
- Facility of carrying and conveying stones from quarry.
- Built-up populated area should not be nearby, in case of quarrying by blasting.
- Geological information regarding the formation at the quarry site should be available.
- Quality of stone available from quarry should be good.
- A large quantity of a stones must be available at or near the surface of the ground.
- Clean and clear water should be available in nearby area.
- There should not be health hazards at the site.
