DIY Butterfly Cage. Using 4x2's

in #nature5 years ago

Guy's today has been an awesome day, you know one of them days where you feel like you have accomplished something.

After a gardening job, I noticed that this week I had a little more money remaining so it was time to buy some 4x2 lengths of wood and make my Butterfly cage.

I started by cutting them to size to make a frame.

and then started to drill and screw them together

once the frame was built it was time to add a screen to stop the caterpillars from escaping.

The door to the enclosure is made from netting and a piece of wood to weigh it down, the reason for this is I couldn't get the door I made to fit the unit I built, I did struggle but the idea works as it is sealed.

While I was building the unit I had a nice surprise, two more butterflies decided to leave the cocoon and join us in the world.

It didn't take long for these guys to fill their wings with blood and make a journey of a lifetime.

until next time my friends, stay safe.

That is epic mate! Great job.

We’ve got a little pop up one from Insect Lore... waiting for those beauties to come out too!

It was hard work, but I think it will be worth it, I have seen today a red admiral I haven't seen one of them in 20+ years. It was amazing

Fantastic!
