This Lake of tectonic origin in the southern part of Eastern Siberia (on the border of Irkutsk region and the Republic of Buryatia), the deepest lake on the planet, the largest natural reservoir of fresh water. The lake and coastal areas have a unique diversity of flora and fauna, most of the animal species endemic.
Baikal - it is one of the oldest reservoirs of our planet. The depth of the lake is truly impressive - 1637 meters.
The water in Baikal is very clean. It can be used to drink directly from the lake and even do not boil. But now the crowds of tourists who still pollute this area rushed to Baikal, so now, before drinking Baikal water, you should ask the locals residents in what place it can be done.
