The most powerful sea monster ever discovered, one of the plesiosaurs, that lived during the age of the dinosaurs, between 205 million to about 65 million years ago.the giant reptile roamed and terrorizing the oceans and seas about 150 million years ago, and was officially classified as a new species now known as pliosaurus, It could reach a massive 60 feet,a specimen found in the Svalbard islands of northern Europe has been estimated to have been 15 metres long, 45,000 kilograms in weight and had teeth 30 centimetres long.

About Pliosaurus
pliosaurs in general were relatively speedy swimmers, with well-muscled flippers on both ends of their trunks,but it would have been a very powerful swimmer similar to whales of today.there were several reasons why this animal went extinct. First of all,Mosasaurs came in this time and competed with Pliosaurus for its main food source – fish.Second, water temperatures began to change during this time and Pliosaurus may not have been able to adapt quickly enough.Which is probably why this animal went extinct at the end of the Jurassic (145 million years ago).
