Oregon Wildflowers #5 (Linum bienne/Pale flax/Wild-Lein)

I found this pale flax flower this summer in a large meadow on the edge of a forest. Linum bienne is native to Europe, but it has been introduced to North America where it can now be found growing in the wild [1].

Ich habe während des Sommers diese Blume von Wild-Lein in einer Wiese am Rand des Waldes gefunden. Linum bienne ist in Europa endemisch, aber wurde in Nordamerika eingeführt, wo Wild-Lein jetzt frei lebend zu sehen ist [1].

There is evidence that this species is a wild ancestor of the domesticated flax variety [2] [3]. Today domesticated flax is used to create various textiles and linseed oil [4].

Es gibt Beweise, dass diese Art von Lein einer Vorfahrer von domestizierter Leinarten ist [2][3]. Heutzutage ist Flachs benutzt um Textilien und Leinöl herzustellen [4].
