Throughout the years it has undergone many modifications not always planned, it was what happened with the real porcelain factory of the good retreat (king D. Carlos III) or even with the astronomical observatory (king D.Carlos IV).
King Carlos III was the first to grant access to anyone who wanted to go.
In 1808, during the French invasion, the gardens were completely destroyed due to the fact that they were used with the Neapolitan troops, after the penisular war began the recontruction of the garden and opened it to the public. The monarch reserved an area where he constructed a series of buildings for ludic purposes characteristic of the time.
