After years of languishing at the bottom of the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers took Markelle Fultz with the first pick in the NBA draft last night. Fultz's ability to relentlessly drive to the hoop and score should pair very nicely with Ben Simmons court vision. The freakish athlete also has a 6'10" wingspan so it is not out of the question for him to develop into an elite defender.
Adding to their haul, the 76ers also traded up to the 25th pick and grabbed Latvian center Anzejs Pasecniks from the Magic. The 7'2" center has two years left on his European contract, but if he can turn into a poor mans Kristaps Porzingis during that time, Philadelphia has come away with a complete steal. Also, interesting to note that Porzingis and Pasecniks played on the same European team and talk almost daily.
To conclude, Joel Embiid with the help of the 76ers fans has bestowed a nickname upon Fultz, Embiid, Dario, Simmons....................The FEDS!
