There Are Hugs & Coffee in that Nebula

Nebula in acrylic colours

I found it difficult to capture it correctly in a photo, as it seems as if it's losing its depth and just reflecting too much light. As opposed to how it looks in 'nature'.

In keeping with the theme, I just got back from stargazing with @m31 and dad. The idea was to catch a glimpse of the meteor shower, but Jupiter and Saturn ended up on the menu as well. Greeted all my known costellations, as per custom. No Moon though. It went to sleep early. Will have to catch it some other time then.

Even though it's still effectively "summer", I dressed up as a polar explorer. And wisely so! It does get cold eventually on August nights if you're just standing still, head tilted upwards in awe.

I didn't want to take any chances of freezing and wanted my undivided attention to enjoying the process. 10/10 would recommend dressing up warmer than seems necessary for stargazing on an August night.

Needless to say I got all sentimental, remembering high school times when astronomy was pretty much the only core to my fragile identity at the time.

Who would have thought we'd end up here..?

That is a sweet painting you got going for you there! Love the texture the paint created. How long did it take you? Also, acrylics?

Thank you for dragging my ass out in the night again! I wasn't aware of how much I was missing stars this whole time xD Too hyper focused on the stuff only a few centimeters away form my face lately xD

I don't know precisely but I think it took about max 3 hours in total. I completely messed up the first attempt at painting something completely different. Ended up pealing the whole thing off and then this happened completely spontaneously and without any planning or much thought to it in the process. Talk about self-expression.. xD

Acrylics, yes. I find it easier to work with oil, but it stinks up the whole place of fish and takes literally forever to dry, so I compromised and took acrylics. I realize I could just spend everything on art supplies.. doesn't even matter that I wouldn't know what to do with it all afterward. xD

Well, I am 'spoilt' with arts after all.. xD As high school psychologist noted when I went to her for a career consultation.

My pleasure! ^^ Yes, it is like that with stars, I have also noticed, that you don't even know how much you have missed them until you see them again. It was the same with me and the luscious green colours of nature when I had to live in the city.
