Some of my other passions are the collecting of old reconstructed Magic the Gathering Decks. It's a practical reason for that. Nobody has time to build a deck to play with friends on the weekend. But if you build a Deck yourself, it's already unfair from that point.

To not face the problem a dice and some preconstructed Decks and the fun can begin.

Besides the practical reason. Those Decks are pretty stable in value increasing. They increase in value by around 8%-12% on average a year. That's pretty decent.

So it IMO a good collectible investment in some cardboard.

I hope you have also some passion for some old and Gold Magic the Gathering cards.

This time we look at the Deck "Special delivery"

1998, Holy shit that's 24 years...

As you can see it's important the box has no major damage to its value. The Single cards don't reflect the full set value.

The Cards in this set are worth around 30$-40$ (maybe Near mind condition is a bit higher).

The full set everything included is worth around 100$-120$.

The Rulebook is also very important for the "resell value". It's crazy. A single Rulebook from Urza´s Saga on sold listings for around 9$.

Card Condition is not that important for the value. It's nice if the cards look clean. But as long they are not damaged, it doesn't influence the value of a Deck at all. It's more important for single cards.

let's look inside the cards: Part 1 Creatures

Special delivery is a Green Red deck as far you can see. It Works with Echo and Upkeep. A mechanic nobody cares about anymore today. But fun to play!

Argothian Wurm 4 for 6/6 was back in the days of some heavy hitter. The Sacrifice mechanic can be also really annoying.

Bull Hippo with Islandwalk and Anaconda with Swampwalk is not bad against Black and blue decks. Simple because those cards unblockable :)

Spells Instand and Enchantments

Some useful Spells and Instants. In my opinion, the most annoying card is "Wildfire" here. It can wold like a reset for 6 mana. Very interesting against rush decks. Fuck up the Lands + clear most likely the board from all low creatures.

Hush has a pretty similar mechanic to Destroy all enchantments for 4 mana. Can also be a pain.

Those old cards look really beautiful. The Mana cards are not that special but they look cool, so why not sharing it!

About the Financial Value

JPEG-Bild_23-exif-remove.jpeg

That's not a Magic the Gathering card. It's a Tradingview Tarot card. I know looks really cool!

I'm really happy Tradingview gave me a full set :)

Back to the Topic.

The Financial Value of those old preconstructed Decks will In my opinion increase more with time. I would not wonder to see 200$ for an old Deck like this in the coming years.

So it will become less a play item and more a collector's item. It's no financial advice of course.

Price increases simply because it will become close to impossible to become a full set in good condition. Could be also become higher. I don't see huge downside risk.

Magic the Gathering is the oldest Trading card game with the biggest community. It stays the market since 1993. It's crazy.

Those are the other old Decks that I plan to show.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoy old cards the same way as I. I love the art and the details. Also, the card quality is very different from today. The cards feel different.

It's a different experience from today's cards. It is worth owning some of the old cards if you really enjoy it.

Anyway, feel free to ask anything you want to know.

Some words to end to financial value, Theme decks are not the best way to invest in Magic the Gathering. They are cool but some single cards have some more upside potential than themedecks.

Worth a lot more sealed, as is all MTG products.

That's true :D

But in this special case, I want to use/play it :D

Sealed beats everything in magic. Easy to sell and always makes money :D

Did you have some sealed collectors boxes for later? Some of them are already 3x. Crazy :D

Did you have some sealed collectors boxes for later?

No, but I have around 18 draft boxes from various sets going back to RTR. That set has not appreciated very well at all (RTR).

I have 4 RTR boxes too, lol the yellow one :D
