New player, starting out is REALLY rough (and probably continuing to get rougher)

in #new2 years ago

So, I just started my crypto game journey. I stumbled upon Splinterlands and while I've heard other games payout more/quicker, I like the gameplay and I'm not looking to turn this into a proper income. I'm actually a AAA game developer and I love games and want to see where this goes.

I played Splinterlands (free) until I managed to get to Bronze 3 with the free (0 power) cards. Then paid the $10 to get a spellbook, only to find out... that only gives you $3 in credits.

That's not usable in the market, and a pack is $4. Big shoutout to Luke Plays To Earn, his videos are a huge help in figuring out this whole thing. (Krill Community!)

I find out about Faucets, signing up with Keychain, and discover really annoying KYC signups to even purchase SPS and/or Hive. To make matters worse, all the giveaways are draining my RC, which is refilling so slowly that I can't even make a comment a day.

Thanks to faucets I have 0.275 SPS staked... That's gonna take a WHILE to start adding up. I'd like to throw $50 at the game (for a total of $60 spent) like your standard console title, but I'm not willing to share my SSN and DL for some third party to do the transaction.

I'm hoping I can transfer some crypto from Coinbase in order to get this moving. It seems like $50 ~ 700 SPS and then I can stake and use the trickle. Will still be stuck to the faucet like it's life-support.

It's seriously rough though, the RC limitations for comments means I can't even utilize the giveaways meant to help newbies like myself. Even this post will cost a double digit % of my RC. I'm at 42% right now and I JUST became able to post this blog... :(

Thanks for reading. Any upvotes, donations, or advice would be super appreciated.
