NASA has discovered large amounts of water on Mars!

Recently, the topic of water on Mars has been spent dreaming on scientists from around the world. In 2015, NASA joyfully stated that a large stream of flowing water had been discovered on the surface of this facility. A few months ago it turned out that it was a big mistake, because instead of water there is sand (picture below).

Meanwhile, regarding the latest discovery, the agency has no doubts. Astronomers have been able to discover large amounts of subsurface water ice at 100 percent.

  • "It looks very encouraging that aquatic ice can be available at depths shallow enough to be used as resources for human missions to Mars," said Angel Abbud-Madrid, director of the Space Resources Center at the Colorado School of Mines.

This discovery is so incredible that the ice water lies at a depth of about 1-2 meters below the surface, and its thickness is estimated at even 100 meters. It gives the entire area on which it is located a blue and black shade. It is these characteristic features that have been detected by scientists in the CRISM spectral data and in the latest photos taken with the help of the HiRISE instrument, which is equipped with the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) probe.

In various areas of the Martian surface, 8 places with ice water have been discovered. This is great news, because exploring the water will allow us not only to get to know the stormy history of Mars, but above all, thanks to it, the colonization of the Red Planet will be much easier.
