The title is 100% correct, that is if you apply the narrative of western media on the events happening on the ground in Syria in the very first days, weeks, and years of the US-led war of terror against Syria, even until this very date there are western pundits keep on repeating the mantra they were taught by the Pentagon 'strategists': 'Peaceful protesters in Syria were oppressed by the Syrian security!
This is Muhammad Rafeh, a prominent Palestinian actor who lived in Damascus and was very popular especially among the Arab teens across the region. Muhammad was kidnapped, tortured, and then killed by the so-called FSA or Free Syria Army, in the west they would tell you there are no armed rebels in the first 4 years, this was just one example, the incident happened in early November 2012.

Turkey sponsored FSA thugs kidnapped, tortured then assassinated prominent Palestinian young actor Muhammad Rafeh because he didn't support their 'revolution' for 'freedom' and 'free speech' against the 'murderous' 'regime'.

By the way, we only knew he's Palestinian after his death; Palestinians in Syria have all equal rights of Syrians and live among Syrians with no barriers or differences unlike their counterparts in the region especially in the countries allies with the USA and considered by it as the beacons of freedom and democracy in the region.
Palestinian refugees in Syria are treated like Syrian citizens, they only cannot vote in Syrian elections. The chief of the Syrian Air Defense for some time was a Palestinian, another was the commander of the Syrian Air Forces, something I learned yesterday is that late President Hafez Assad's personal bodyguard was a Palestinian!
