AMD started gaining some attention when they first launched their first gen ryzen processors which had a decent performance but with great price which became a great option for budget consumer. Ryzen 5 1600 was the best cpu which offered best price to performance ratio at a 200$ price point.
Continuing this trend two years later, amd just launched their 3rd gen ryzen lineup. Here as for budget pc builders ryzen 5 3600 seems to be a great choice. It offered 20% performance boost over its previous gen and nearly 45% performance gain from ryzen 1600 & at the same price of 200$.
As for the performance it performs similar or greater than intel's i7 8700k and beats i5 9600k on many different workloads. This processors costs around 300$ price range which is whole 100$ more than ryzen 3600. And ryzen 3600 has better overclocking potential, supports PCI 4.0 with much faster ram upto 4000 mhz & all with less power draw of 65w.
