RE: This video about Holocaust-denying politician BLOCKED in ALL OF EUROPE. Will it be blocked on Steemit?

I do understand what you mean. There is this moral contradiction in it. But where shall that lead to? When it is not okay to take away the freedom of others... should we be okay with people who are willing to take freedom away from others? I think what we can achieve is more and more freedom. And that starts with peoples minds. But is total freedom for everybody a thing we want yet? Mankind isn't ready for that at the moment. I also don't like many things that are happening in my country. But I feel very free. And this exception from freedom of speech for holocaust denial is something I am okay with. How should we declare to the jews not banning it? We already are free to think whatever we want and mankind already is one big community. But most people aren't just aware.

Sort:

If you tolerate banning the speech of others, karma will come back around and ban your thoughts and opinions. Maybes one day, as Germany becomes more Islamic they may make it illegal to say anything bad about the Koran.

You could lose your job from voicing your disagreement of religious texts and ideologies.

It's a slippy slope if you begin to ban free speech.

I think it is okay that we have this exception here in Germany just because of our history and for showing that we are aware of it and don't want to have something like this ever again. In fact we have many taboos here in talking about the islam or immigration. These are very sensitive topics here because of our history. But my impression is, that it's okay to treat these topics very carefully.
